July 2010

My individual ELEL hallmark is now registered at Sheffield Assay office.

There are 12 new additions to the Chainmaille collection.

I am currently working on several new pieces, for my Chainmaille collection, which I hope to have ready in a few weeks.

I have also recently registered my individual hallmark at the Sheffield Assay Office.

I have recently ventured into the world of Chainmaille Jewellery and have therefore added a new page with seven new pieces. 

Chainmaille began in medieval times as a method of weaving metal to create armour for knights. Today, chainmaille has been adapted by artists to form supple jewellery with exquisite lines, popular with both men and women. It's incredibly versatile and can produce delicate lacy pieces as well as those of a more substantial and dramatic nature. 
 
There are several basic families of chainmaille. Within these are dozens of different patterns or weaves, of which my pieces are but a few.

2nd December 2009 

I've added a selection of gemstone bead jewellery to my website today.
I hope this will appeal to those of you who prefer your jewellery more sparkly!
 
At present there are five necklaces and eight pairs of earrings featuring Blue Topaz, Peridot, Madeira Citrine, and Green and Purple Amethyst. You can find them on the menu under the heading Gemstone Jewellery.
 
I also have my eye on some Apatite and rather lovely London Blue Topaz so they should feature in the future.

My winning Torn Earrings now feature in the Dec/Jan issue of Bead Magazine (issue 19, page 82) along with all the other winners and finalists of the British Bead Awards. I also entered my Minarets Necklace in their Readers' Challenge - "Inspired by Art" - and you can see that on page 96.
 
The magazine is on sale now. It's certainly a bumper issue for me!

I'm very pleased to announce that my Torn earrings won first place in the Wirework category of The British Bead Awards held at The Big Bead show this weekend. This is the first competition I've entered so I hope you can understand how excited I am!
The earrings will be available for sale shortly. They will also feature in the Dec/Jan issue of Bead Magazine for sale on 19th November.

Ten of my new pieces will be available for sale in The Beads and The Birds tent at The Malvern Autumn Show this weekend (26th and 27th September).Other beautiful handmade beads and jewellery will also be available, as well as bead making demonstrations by Julie Fountain.

I've decided to set up a shop on Etsy.

If you've not heard of it it's a forum that hosts shops selling everything handmade. I've been a buyer on Etsy for some time and I love it. It's also safe and easy to use and you can chat directly with the seller through conversations (convos).

It's very difficult for new websites to be discovered on the internet so I'm hoping this is the perfect place for people to find my designs.

I will still be running my website shop and once I have more pieces will run two separate lines in each shop.

At present there are two new items in the Etsy shop - Cerulean, a pendant and pair of earrings featuring some etched beads from Lorna at Pixie Willow Designs in a glorious shade of blue - as well as a selection of items from my website shop.

I recently acquired two beautiful focal beads from Kate and just had to make something immediately! Hippolyta features one of these beads and a fan like dangle that will move when you do.

For the second pendant, Chaperone, I kept the silver work to a frame in order to showcase the beautiful lentil bead from Kaz.

I seem to have been looking at a lot of Art Nouveau work recently and this inspired me to make the Juno pendant. Solely silver, it features 1.8mm wire shaped and textured with a planishing hammer to give lots of tiny facets that really catch the light.

With both Hippolyta and Juno I've used a new medium weight belcher chain.

 

While making a gift recently I discovered I appear to have rather a large stash of Swarovski crystals! These will definitely feature soon in some lighter, more summery pieces. So, if you're a fan of crystals pay another visit in a few weeks, or better still, sign up to the mailing list to be informed as soon as anything new is added.
